Before connecting Beats Pill 2.0 speakers to any device we recommend downloading the latest Beats Pill 2.0 firmware from the official Beats Pill support site [1] using the Update tool for Beats. These instructions assume that you are running Apple iOS 7 or greater on the iPad 2.

  1. In order to charge the iPad 2 from a Beats Pill 2 you'll need a USB to Apple 30 pin cable [4].
  2. Plug the large USB end of the USB to Apple 30 pin cable into the Beats Pill 2. You can find the red USB port by pulling then rotating the rubber port cover marked beatspill on the foot of the speaker.
  3. Connect the other end of the USB to Apple 30 pin cable into the dock connector on the iPad 2. The iPad 2 dock connector is found at the bottom of the iPad 2.
  4. Turn on the Beats Pill 2 and the iPad 2 will begin to charge. Typically the Beats Pill battery life at full power capacity is roughly 7 hours however charging the iPad 2 may cause this to be much lower.
