How to connect the iPad 4 to the Jabra Solemate Max

These instructions assume that you have installed Apple iOS 7 or greater on the iPad 4. Ensure you have version 1.27 or greater of the Jabra Solemate Max firmware, visit the official Jabra Solemate Max support site [2] to download the latest version. You can switch off the default 'Solemate is connected' announcements by holding down the Volume down button when turning on the Jabra Solemate Max until you hear 'Sound prompts off'.

  1. The following instructions describe how to pair the iPad 4 with the Jabra Solemate Max. On the right hand side of the Jabra Solemate Max locate the power button, there are 3 settings - off, on and bluetooth. Starting from the off position push up the power switch all the way to the top and hold until the indicator light starts flashing blue and you hear the announcement "Go ahead and connect me, use the Bluetooth setting on your phone".
  2. From the home screen on the phone open Settings control panel, then go to the Bluetooth menu and turn on the Bluetooth option.
  3. Underneath select Jabra Solemate Max from the list of nearby devices to connect to the iPad, shortly afterwards it will then say "Paired" next to the name of the device.
  4. The Jabra Solemate Max and the iPad 4 are paired and ready to be used to play music. Tapping on the AirPlay icon in any iOS application on the iPad which can play audio will bring up a list of devices where you'll be able to toggle between headphones, the loudspeaker and the Jabra Solemate Max. In the future you can turn on the Jabra Solemate Max and it will automatically connect to the iPad 4 without needing to pair again, just turn both devices on and wait for the "Solemate is connected" announcement.
  5. As long as you do not pair the jabra with any other devices this will continue to automatically connect to the iPad 4.

  1. These instructions show you how to connect the iPad 4 to the Jabra Solemate Max using a cable to play audio. Firstly locate the headphone socket at the top of the tablet.
  2. With the speaker turned off locate the line in port on the Jabra Solemate Max. This is located on the right of the speaker below the power switch.
  3. Connect the headphone socket on the iPad 4 to the line in on the Jabra Solemate Max port using a 3.5mm stereo male to 3.5mm stereo male cable [3].
  4. Any audio from the iPad will stop playing on the iPad speaker and play on the Jabra Solemate Max instead.
  5. When the line in port is used the Bluetooth facility will be disabled, you'll hear a "Bluetooth off" announcement and you'll only be able to listen to audio from the iPad 4. You can now play audio on the Jabra Solemate Max from the iPad 4.
